Finance & HR Administrator

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and strong administrator to join our dynamic Finance & HR team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This position will be well suited to an individual with a strong administrative background and is passionate about delivering a world class customer experience. The Finance & HR Administrator will manage the Company’s payroll activities for hourly and salaried employees, contact customers to chase payment for outstanding invoices and provide administrative support to HR & Finance whilst delivering a first-class customer service internally and externally.

The position

Main responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all day to day queries and adhoc requests via telephone, email and face-to-face, both internally and externally, e.g. payroll requests, reference requests etc
  • Liaise with customers to request payment of outstanding invoices
  • Maintain the sales ledger to ensure customer accounts are kept up to date on a daily basis
  • Using our payroll system, process weekly and monthly payroll in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in our payroll system, including setting up new records, amendments to pay details, updating for leavers and any other adjustments
  • Process payments for salaries and wages
  • Ensure timely submission of information to HMRC as requested
  • Provide administrative support for the employee life cycle including processing joiners and leavers, creating, and updating employee system profiles and records
  • Attend disciplinary/grievance hearings for notetaking purposes, when necessary
  • Support the HR department with the population of letters as required
  • Co-ordinate employee starter and leaver process as required
  • Provide general support to the Group Managing Director and Finance Director as required

Person specification:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • Experience using HR & payroll software (ideally with ADP)
  • Ability to be tactful and diplomatic to confidential/ sensitive situations
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality
  • Good understanding of PAYE
  • Good understanding of employee life cycle
  • Understanding of ongoing legislative changes which affect payroll
  • First class customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organised, logical and methodical approach
  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Ability to remain pro-active and use own initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise effectively
